In the recent debate among the Democratic Primary candidates
Beto O”Rourke made clear his intentions concerning gun control, intentions I
believe that reflect the Democrat Party as a whole. He is the one candidate
that has made it abundantly clear that if allowed he will confiscate guns.
Maybe the others haven’t explicitly expressed this opinion, but we can be sure
that behind closed doors they all feel the same way. O’Rourke only mentioned
AR-15s and AK-47s but you can be sure that this would only be the first step in
the long road to disarming the American public.
I don’t believe that gun confiscation will work quite the way
O’Rourke would like it to happen, it will take place in small increments. First
will be national Red Flag Laws, laws that are a violation of the first, second,
fourth, fifth and sixth amendments. These types of laws which unfortunately seem
to be supported by politicians on both sides of the aisle as well as President Trump
will do nothing to deter mass shootings. Even if they were somewhat effective
in stopping this type of crime it still violates our Constitution.
After red flag legislation is passed and I do fear that within the next year we will see some form of these laws taking effect on a national level, the next step will be universal background checks which in turn will lead to national gun registration.
Once there is a national data base for registering guns, confiscation then becomes very easy. Once the guns are out of the hands of the citizens, tyranny begins. One only must look at what has happened over the last century. In Eastern Europe the Soviet Union and their satellite states of Hungary, Bulgaria and East Germany fell to the hands of totalitarianism once their citizens were disarmed. Hitler’s Germany disarmed the Jews which resulted in over six million deaths. More recently and closer to home we have Castro’s Cuba were most of the citizens were disarmed after the revolution and of course there is modern day Venezuela whose citizens lost the chance to defend themselves and are now starving under the socialist government.
Our Second Amendment was written into the Bill of Rights for
a reason and that reason was not to support our right to hunt but to protect us
from tyranny. Rest assured that the politicians that support “gun control” have
one concern and one concern only. They want a population that cannot resist
whatever plans they may have for our future.
I recently read an interesting opinion piece from the American Thinker written by William L. Gensert titled “America’s Second Civil War Has Already Begun”. This article was written several months ago but it is becoming more pertinent every day. I find this piece very depressing because there is little that l can disagree with in his assessment. I don’t believe that this civil war will happen tomorrow or next month or even next year, but I do believe that it is inevitable considering how divided our country has become. It may be in a decade or two, but it will happen.
There are many factors that are contributing to the great
political divide in this country. There is abortion, gun control, racial
tensions, sexual diversity, all of which the left is using to further divide this
country. Of course, first and foremost is the 2016 presidential election that was
“stolen” when the popular vote went to Hillary but President Trump won the
Ever since the election the progressives have been trying to
do whatever they can to nullify it, first by claiming Russian collusion and
with that failing trying to find some way to impeach the President. However
next to the Russians the electoral college has become the other target of their
obsession. With virtually every Democrat primary candidate obsessed with eliminating
the electoral college we could be facing the straw that breaks the camels back
when it comes to civil war.
In this article from Hillsdale College, “The Danger Of The Attacks On The Electoral College” the importance of this system is made clear. If for any reason this system of representation is changed it will mean that only the most populated areas of the country will have a say in who is our chief executive. Of course, the more populated areas tend to be the most progressive and with the Executive Branch continuously gaining more power with each election this will have a dire effect on the rural areas who tend to be more conservative.
I do foresee the electoral college eventually going the way of the dinosaur because most Americans are illiterate when it comes to civics and our Constitution. Our education system no longer places importance on the ideals that made this country great but places the emphasis on how horrible our founders were. Has this country made mistakes, of course it has, but show me one country that has done more for the benefit of the people on this planet? You can’t because there is not one. Unfortunately, within a short period of time the United States as we know it will come to a brutal and chaotic end.
If the progressives with their love of socialism become even more powerful, we can look forward to being the North American equivalent of Venezuela with the exception that most gun owing Americans will not give up their weapons. That is when things will get very messy.
Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao has stated that the administration is considering increasing the federal gas tax. The last time it was increased was 25 years ago during President Clinton’s first term. The tax currently sits at 18.4 cents on gasoline and 24.4 cents for diesel. The Chamber of Commerce is recommending a 25 cent increase added on to the current tax to be instituted over a five year period. According to Chao the administration has not taken the idea of a gas tax increase off the table.
The gas tax is considered a regressive tax affecting those who can least afford it. If a Republican Administration was to pass this type of tax the Democrats would use it to attack the President during the next election cycle. The people most adversely affected by this will be those who live in more rural areas such as “fly over” country, the states that supported our President during the last election. These people will not be to happy about a tax that they feel will be used to address transportation problems that are mainly affecting the higher populated areas on either coast.
As usual our representatives in Washington only have one answer to problems and that is steal more money from its citizens. Our government waste billions of dollars every year but instead of cutting useless programs and putting the money to important infrastructure needs they would rather raise taxes. We the people are Taxed Enough Already. This is why the Tea Party movement was started ten years ago. Maybe it is time to start it up once again since Washington didn’t learn anything last time.
Most of the 2020 Democrat Presidential candidates have now switched from promoting the New Green Deal to talking about reparations. Sen. Cory Booker, one of the many candidates just introduced a bill in the senate that would study the possibility of reparations for the descendants of slaves. Booker stated, “this bill is a way of addressing head-on the persistence of racism, white supremacy, and implicit racial bias in our country. It will bring together the best minds to study the issue and propose solutions that will finally begin to right the economic scales of past harms and make sure we are a country where all dignity and humanity is affirmed.”
If a bill was passed that would take tax payer money and redistribute it to descendants of slaves, that bill would create more problems than it would ever solve. There are so many people living in this country whose families had nothing to do with slavery a century and a half ago that would resent having their taxes used for something like this. My relatives on both my mother and father’s side came to this country in the late 1800’s and I would oppose having my hard earned dollars going to someone who may or may not have had relatives that were slaves 150 years ago. There is no argument that slavery was and still is a horrible institution but trying to correct wrongs that are centuries old will not improve race relations today.
I am convinced however that the Democrats are not really serious about passing any kind of reparation legislation. They are doing what comes naturally to them, pandering to their constituents. When it comes to minorities they promise and pander but never deliver. Yet somehow these groups continue to support the Democrat Party even though through the years have shown that they are no better off.
Nebraska has had some of the worst flooding ever and yet the MSM is barely covering the disaster. They are more interested in trying to dig up dirt on our President and will ignore much more important events happening in certain areas of the country. Of course if this had happened in California or the NYC area instead of fly-over country the press would be all over this. I am willing to bet that if you were to go to any area populated by university students and asked them what they thought about what’s happening in Nebraska you would get a blank look from the majority of them.
Not only is this a horrible situation for the citizens of the state of Nebraska it will affect the entire country over the coming year. With the states agriculture being hit with almost a billion dollars in losses I am sure we can expect to see a spike in beef, dairy and other staples over the coming months. Then add in the tremendous damage done to the states infrastructure and businesses along with private property loses the country will see the effects of this disaster for a while, and the state I am sure will take years to recover. If the MSM had any morals at all this would be on the news every day so people can become aware of what the Nebraskans are facing an maybe send some help their way. When disasters help in other parts of the world the American people are their to help. But we cannot help if we are not aware of the problem.
