Could it be because of this ….
we have this?
The video above is an excerpt from the CBS show The Good Fight titled “The One Were A Nazi Gets Punched”. This episode appears to rationalizes that some speech and ideas are so intolerable that it is okay to get physically violent with those promoting them. Wrong as this concept is it is getting taken to extremes, to the point that if people find what you are wearing offense it is okay to assault you. In the case above a priest in Washington State is assaulted for wearing his religious garments. After being asked “how’s Trump” he is then punched. More about that here.
Anyone who has spent any time on social media sites have invariably seen videos of people being attacked verbally and physically for just wearing pro-Trump paraphernalia. The Progressives do not seem to have a problem with incidents like these but when one of theirs is criticized they equate it to acts of violence. For instance when Rep. Ilhan Omar (D. Minn.) was called out on her statement concerning 9/11 she whined about the criticism she received. Unfortunately this criticism incited some people to make threats, threats that amounted to nothing but people blowing off steam. Of course the MSM acts like she was the only representative to ever receive threats while in office.
In most cases acts of political violence are coming from those on the left, the worst of which in recent times was the shooting of Republican Congressman Steve Scalise. Unfortunately we have Representatives such as Democrat Maxine Waters encouraging people to “push back” on Trump officials seen in public. When we have officials making statements like this should we be surprised when violence erupts at political events or even in family restaurants?
No mater where the violence is coming from the left or the right we as a society need to bring our discourse back to a civilized level. People will always disagree but this should be limited to conversations and not altercations. Until the people that are supposed to be representing us change their rhetoric this will not happen.
Here are a few examples of people over reacting to others wearing conservative attire:
Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao has stated that the administration is considering increasing the federal gas tax. The last time it was increased was 25 years ago during President Clinton’s first term. The tax currently sits at 18.4 cents on gasoline and 24.4 cents for diesel. The Chamber of Commerce is recommending a 25 cent increase added on to the current tax to be instituted over a five year period. According to Chao the administration has not taken the idea of a gas tax increase off the table.
The gas tax is considered a regressive tax affecting those who can least afford it. If a Republican Administration was to pass this type of tax the Democrats would use it to attack the President during the next election cycle. The people most adversely affected by this will be those who live in more rural areas such as “fly over” country, the states that supported our President during the last election. These people will not be to happy about a tax that they feel will be used to address transportation problems that are mainly affecting the higher populated areas on either coast.
As usual our representatives in Washington only have one answer to problems and that is steal more money from its citizens. Our government waste billions of dollars every year but instead of cutting useless programs and putting the money to important infrastructure needs they would rather raise taxes. We the people are Taxed Enough Already. This is why the Tea Party movement was started ten years ago. Maybe it is time to start it up once again since Washington didn’t learn anything last time.
Most of the 2020 Democrat Presidential candidates have now switched from promoting the New Green Deal to talking about reparations. Sen. Cory Booker, one of the many candidates just introduced a bill in the senate that would study the possibility of reparations for the descendants of slaves. Booker stated, “this bill is a way of addressing head-on the persistence of racism, white supremacy, and implicit racial bias in our country. It will bring together the best minds to study the issue and propose solutions that will finally begin to right the economic scales of past harms and make sure we are a country where all dignity and humanity is affirmed.”
If a bill was passed that would take tax payer money and redistribute it to descendants of slaves, that bill would create more problems than it would ever solve. There are so many people living in this country whose families had nothing to do with slavery a century and a half ago that would resent having their taxes used for something like this. My relatives on both my mother and father’s side came to this country in the late 1800’s and I would oppose having my hard earned dollars going to someone who may or may not have had relatives that were slaves 150 years ago. There is no argument that slavery was and still is a horrible institution but trying to correct wrongs that are centuries old will not improve race relations today.
I am convinced however that the Democrats are not really serious about passing any kind of reparation legislation. They are doing what comes naturally to them, pandering to their constituents. When it comes to minorities they promise and pander but never deliver. Yet somehow these groups continue to support the Democrat Party even though through the years have shown that they are no better off.
President Trump has threatened to close the border with Mexico because of the lack of support from that country in curtailing the increased illegal crossings. The President is doing this to force the Mexican government into action and not to affect a decrease in illegal border crossings since the border is already closed to illegals.
This is the same strategy that the President used when shutting down the Federal Government in order to force through his border wall funding. This did not work then and will not work now. Closing the border for an extended period of time will negatively affect the U.S. economy and I am not talking about just a shortage of avocados. 600 Billion dollars a year in trade crosses our southern border, of that $137 billion is food, the rest in manufactured goods. I doubt the American people will put up with that for long. With the 2020 elections coming up the last thing our President wants to do is create economic problems that would cause pain for hard working Americans. Difficulties that the Democrats and MSM would take advantage of and use to hammer President Trump throughout the campaign.
I know the President sees himself as a tough negotiator and it has served him well in his previous business dealings. If this threat of a border closure does work it will be a win for us but if the bluff does not work and he were to follow through with a border closure it will end up being a disaster for his administration and will jeopardize his chance of reelection. However it is very possible that the Mexican government sees this as only a bluff and may just ignore it. If this is the case it will be interesting to see what the President will do next.
How can people of color not be insulted by some one who panders to them in such an obvious manner? This young woman who graduated cum laude from Boston University with a degree in International Relations and economics has never sounded like this before. She was born in Bronx New York not in Atlanta Georgia.
I was born in upstate New York and did not move to Virginia until my late 20’s and have been living here ever since. I would never consider insulting my native Virginia neighbors by trying to adopt a southern accent. I have to much respect for their culture, but again I am not a pandering politician. This once again proves that people like Alexandria Ortega-Cortez will do anything to promote their agenda. Anything that is except speak the truth.
Speaking of the truth here is a video that was put together by Lets Be Frank in response to AOC whining on twitter about peoples reaction to her fake southern accent.
Democrats once again show their reliance on double standards to avoid what could very well be an enlightening look at Virginia’s Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax’s sexual proclivities. As usual when one of their own party is accused of wrong doings, they begin to circle the wagons. In the case of the sexual assault accusations which have been lodged by two women who came out in public last month on national television, the party is not willing to agree to a hearing by a bi-partisan committee concerning these allegations.
House Speaker Kirk Cox R-Colonial Heights has stated that Democratic Eileen Filler-Corn D-Fairfax has repeatedly turned down offers for a bi-partisan hearing offered by House Courts Committee Chairman Rob Bell R- Albemarle, to hear testimony from the three parties. The hearing would have consisted of equal number Republicans and Democrats. It appears that the Democrats have no interest in finding out the facts behind these claims. On the other hand, if it was a Republican who was being accused they would be chomping at the bit.
Sexual assault is a horrible situation for anyone to have to deal with and it is especially unfortunate when a woman is attacked by a Democrat because there is even less chance for justice. Just ask Kathleen Willey, Paula Jones or Juanita Broaddrick.
Americans for Responsible Solutions, a gun control super PAC that was founded by Gabrielle Giffords and Mark Kelly have plans to support several Democrat candidates in this fall’s state elections. With multiple gun control bills that did not make it out of committee this past year because of the slim Republican majority a change in control of the legislature will alter that drastically. Peter Ambler director of ARS stated,” not only does getting these folks into the majority give us what we need to pass lifesaving legislation, it gives them a mandate to do that.”
“Lifesaving legislation”? Not one piece of gun control has been proven to reduce crime or save lives. You only have to look at some of the worst crime ridden cities that have the strictest gun control to see that these laws do not work. For some odd reason these people think that punishing law abiding citizens is the answer to preventing criminals from breaking the law. There are plenty of laws on the books that are supposed to keep criminals from using guns in crimes but criminals don’t seem to obey these laws, so why should they obey new regulations? People need to know the truth, the lies of the progressives need to be countered.
There is a great organization in Virginia that is fighting to protect our 2nd Amendment rights and provide information concerning gun control legislation, the Virginia Citizens Defense League, they work tirelessly to counter the misinformation put out by the left. I encourage you to join this organization and donate if possible so we can maintain our rights. Another good source is John Lott who has done an amazing amount of research on the effectiveness of gun control laws, he has written a very revealing book on this subject, More Guns Less Crime. Check it out, it is well worth the read and can give you ammunition to fight the progressives lies about gun control.
In this interview with Mavis Taintor, a Democrat who is running against pro-gun Delegate Dave LaRock in Virginia’s House of Delegates District 33 we see another potential gun grabbing politician. If elected this woman will go after all our gun rights, she would eliminate open carry, make it more difficult to get a concealed carry permit and bring back the one gun a month handgun law among a host of other restrictions that she wants to place on our 2nd Amendment rights.
Fast forward to 11:40 where she starts talking about her ideas on gun legislation. At the 12:45 mark she states that Virginia supplies 2/3 of the illegal handguns confiscated in New York. In truth according to a report by the Office of the NY Attorney General only 15% of the illegal handguns are brought in from Virginia. This is a long way from 66%. Once again we have a politician who is not afraid to lie to the people to help promote her agenda. If she lies about one part of her platform how can you trust anything else she says?
I have to state again how important this falls elections are when it comes to securing our God given rights. I know people say this all the time but this could truly be one of the most important elections in our state history,
After this fall’s election the state of Virginia could very well continue its slide into the Blue if the Republicans lose any more seats in the House of Delegates or State Senate. Things have already gotten worse with all the bills that were past in 2018 that increased government regulation and oversight, with more Democrat control this will continue to head in that direction.
If you visit the American Conservative Union website, you will find a host of bills that were passed in the state by our legislature that further increases spending and regulation. These bills range from increased licensing fees, to tax credits for select businesses and Medicaid expansion. Virginia has to many legislators that seem to think that more government is good government.
I am always amazed at the number of bills that are passed by our legislature every year. It would seem after a while that we would have everything covered, but no, every year dozens of bills make their way to the Governor’s desk. The one thing I can say is that it is a good thing that our representatives are only in Richmond for a short time, otherwise think of the damage they could do if they were there for longer periods.
The citizens of Virginia need to stop this downward spiral of bigger government and higher taxes that our representatives continue to promote. I fail to understand how some people think that government is always the answer. Ask just about anyone how they feel about their visits to the DMV, a government run institution, and they will complain about the excessive paper work, poor service and inconvenience. Yet these same people seem to think the state should be controlling our medical care as well as having control over every aspect of business and our personal rights.
If you look at the ACU rankings of our state legislators you will see that only six delegates and zero Senators on the Republican side received a 90% or higher grade, the highest democrat rating was 35%. On the Republican side Senator Emmett Hanger received the lowest ranking of all Republicans with a 61% well below the average of 76%, which I think should be closer to 90 . It is Republicans like Hanger that must go, and we have that chance this coming June when he is primaried by Tina Freitas who will bring conservatism back to the 24th Senate District.
It is the early primaries through out the state that will be key to how our fall elections turn out. Primary turn out is always low but that needs to change if we are to see real transformation in our legislature. Encourage your friends and neighbors to get out to vote and impress on them the necessity of limited government, and if they question you ask them about their last visit to the DMV.
